Conceptual Formalism

Conceptual Formalism largely aplies to the paradigm of New Media Art.

Conceptual art has lost it’s momentum. Instead of becoming new force that transfigures modern classification of art concept and esthetic value it has seemingly become an exercise in language rethorics and mental masturbation.

The consequent brakethroughts in computer graphics, robotics and technology has created new medium for experimentation that caused shift in art history toward formulative practices. Generative art in particular has rejected the notion of separation of concept and the form. The entire movement exist on a singular concept that the work of art is organic and self created where artist instead of defining finished product defines the set of rules for image creation using meta programing systems.

Consequently because of inherited issues with presentation and preservation of New Media works New Media Movment was able to floorish without over-commercialization. Resent years saw many artist begging to fuse conceptual and formative art into the new coherent movement that emphasizes the fact that formulation can’t exist without concept.
